Dear Deacon Joe,
Today is one of those days when we get to say important things to someone who is deeply part of our lives here at Christ the Redeemer Parish.
Often enough we presume on those people who are so regularly and intimately part of our lives that we don't take the time to say thanks and to wish
then God's best blessing.
On behalf of the community, Deacon Joe, let me say thanks to you and to very publically wish you God's choisest blessings. From the beginning
of Christ the Redeemer Parish, in the days of our pilgrim ways through various and sundry meeting places, you have come to sign for us life as
a parish community. Some of these ways have been very public and others are quiet moments which most of us will never know.
Blessing in a liturgical sense is to publically and joyfully praise God for his actions in people, in the community, and in his Word among us.
Today as a parish, we bless God for your Diaconate for us and with us from the time of your ordination on May 16, 1981! You have signed God's
presence in your service at the Lord's Table, in his preached Word, in the life-giving waters of baptism. You have shared faith with young parents
and their children. You have joined others in marriage. You have stood firm with those in grief. You have visited our sick.
Your servant ministry has gathered our readers, our eucharistic ministers, our servers. You have prepared the Lord's Table and opened God's
house for prayers seven days a week. Your quiet presence has built up the parish to this very day. As parishioners, staff, and Atonement Friars, we
are most grateful to you.
A word of thanks to your wife, Rose, for her sharing of her husband with all of us. Together you have made a difference. May these memories be your
blessing and hope into the future.
Sincerely,

(Fr.) C. Donald Howard, SA
