Liturgical Ministers
You Are Invited!
Christ the Redeemer Parish has always placed the celebration of the Eucharist at the center of its life. Each weekend the parish community gathers seven times for the celebrations of the Eucharistic Liturgy, five times in English and twice in Spanish. We can be justly proud of the quality of our liturgical Assembly, which gathers for “full, active participation” in the worship of the Church. The prayerfulness, the sense of celebration, and the involvement of the whole community allows us to come together as God’s People on the way to the Kingdom.
This year, the whole Church celebrates the entire year as the Year of the Eucharist. The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy speaks of the Eucharist as the “source and summit of the Christian life.” In word and sacramental sign we express who we are and we become the mystery of who we are in Christ present among us. The liturgy, to be fully alive, requires many gifts and talents, many people, many ministers.
During this Year of the Eucharist consider serving in one of the liturgical ministries. The Lord calls us to be his people, to receive the revelation of his Presence through us to one another. With so many Masses and with many ministries, we need you and invite you to share in this dimension of parish life. In your service, you can build-up the community and be enriched in your faith life. We can all grow in the mystery of being the Body of Christ.
Opportunities for Service
Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist: The parish community needs a minimal of a hundred people to help primarily with the distribution of Holy Communion. Our needs are greater with the fuller sign of communion under the forms of bread and cup. Some ministers also take communion to the sick and homebound.
Readers of God’s Word: The community needs men and women to proclaim and share the presence of God through his inspired Word. The liturgy calls for diverse readers to read the Word in the Assembly.
Servers: Elementary and high schools boys are asked to assist with the practical matters of the liturgy.
Musical Ministers: Liturgy is interpreted and enhanced by our various choirs, cantors, vocalists, and instrumentalists. Cantors and various smaller performing groups lead the community in prayer.
Art and Environment Ministry: This group serves the community as artists, designers, floral arrangers, and diverse tasks in planning and preparing the liturgical space, which enriches the prayerful expression of the community.
Ushers and Ministers of Hospitality: Ushers are men and women who assists with practical details of the celebration and the needs of the worshiping community. A dimension of this ministry is others who welcome others to provide a hospitable space.
Liturgical Coordinators: These are people who set up the sanctuary space, arrange for the gift procession, communicate with visiting priests, and see that the liturgical space and vessels are suitably arranged at the end of celebrations.
The liturgy is the work of God’s People.
Please consider serving the worshiping community.
Be and celebrate the Body of Christ in the Presence of the Father and for the good of the Church.
