Bishop's Lenten Appeal, 2010
Chairty is Faith in Action

This is an opportunity for us to unite with all Catholics in our Diocese to share our blessings and to show concern for one another. Please assist the works of vocations, Catholic Charities, family life and all the other programs carried out by our diocese. Please be as generous as God has been to you. Every gift is important. Next weekend, we will ask all to complete a BLA pledge form at Mass.If you have already given in the mail or decline to give, there will be places to note that on the form. If you have not yet pledged, please prayerfully consider Bishop Loverde's request for support and give generously to assist the work of our diocese. Thank you.

CTR's 1st Blood Drive of 2010
What better way to "love thy neighbor" than to give someone the gift of life—a blood donation. Our first blood drive of 2010 will be on Saturday, February 13, 7:00 am - 12:30 pm in Atonement Hall. There is an urgent need for types O and B negative. Donors can sign up after Mass this weekend, February 6-7. Or, you can now go online to make your own appointment. Go to this Inova Blood Donation Services Website, and just enter your name at an available time slot to make your appointment.

If you can’t make it to the church drives and you give blood at the Dulles INOVA donation center on Nokes Blvd., you can still credit CTR by mentioning our code: #0025. Thanks for offering others the Gift of Life!

If you are wondering if you are able to give blood, please check these eligibility requirements (en Español) or call/email Mike and Michele Hawes at 703-444-5136/(email address).

(16 year olds may now donate if they have a parent or guardian sign a permission slip (available at sign-up). This CTR website has information on eligibility requirements (en Español), parental consent (form for those donors age 16), and foods that are rich in iron.)

Have any questions about your eligibility to donate? Please call the INOVA donor advocate at 571-434-3628, or see this webpage for more details, or, if you need still more information or would like to help with the blood drive, please contact Michele Hawes at 703-444-5136, or use this email. If you have questions about scheduling an appointment online, also call Michele Hawes.

(For more information about the INOVA blood donor program, please go to this INOVA Blood Donor Website.)

Continuing Blood Drive
If you miss our church drives and would like to donate at the INOVA Blood Center on Nokes Blvd. (or any other INOVA Blood Center), just give the CTR code #0025 to the receptionist, and your donation will be credited to us and count toward our year end goal.

Volunteers Needed to Help Serve Meals
On the second Saturday of each month, parishioners prepare meals to feed needy people in Sterling and Leesburg. We are in need of three people who would be willing to go along in the canteen truck to serve the meals. We are looking for a one time commitment, but you could volunteer for additional times if you want.

• Volunteers need to be at the kitchen at Christ the Redeemer by 3:00 pm on the second Saturday of the month.
• From CTR they would go to the three meal pick-up areas.
• At those pick-up areas, the meals would be dished from the cambros into individual containers for the people to take to their homes.
• After the last stop, the canteen truck would be returned to the Salvation Army office in Leesburg, quickly cleaned and the group would return to CTR.

You would be back at CTR by 7:00 pm. This is a great community service project if you are a confirmation student scheduled to be confirmed during the Fall of 2010. One of your parents would need to volunteer and accompany you during your service. We need three servers each time, so this would be an ideal family project. For more information contact Fr. Art at 703-430-0811 ext. 16.
