** Music Ministry **

A major consideration here at Christ the Redeemer is the liturgical experience taken as a whole; it tries to influence you viscerally as the words and thoughts and music pull at your mind. Speaking of our music, liturgy does not provide a context for performance, rather, the music offered is layered with the liturgy to open up the possibility of deeper understanding of the spoken Word. If executed well, the music can be motivational as well, such as, the text or tune that helps us recall the lesson. From the first notes of the prelude to the last verse of the closing assembly hymn, the music is directed toward an experience that both strengthens and challenges the ongoing conversion that faith requires. These are the elements of our music program here at Christ the Redeemer.

In order to accomplish these objectives, many individuals are needed to share their voices and their musical talents. Things do not "magically" happen at our celebrations; the planning and the time invested during the preceding weeks and months are the elements that remain constant. If music is more than just a passing interest to you and if you truly enjoy singing, consider enriching our music ministry with your gifts and enthusiasm. Instrumentalists can broaden our musical spectrum by a few special offerings. It can be a time for a commitment to the service of the assembly.

CTR's Adult Choirs	CTR's Children's Choir
** Hymnprint Resource ** hymnprint.net is a resource for music ministers. With it, one can hear the accompaniment of any of the hymns in the CTR hymnal, Gather Comprehensive. There are some instructions: Click on the hymnprint.net icon and look for the red "FIND" band. In the center of that band there is a pull down menu for a hymnal name and hymn number. Choose "Gather Comp" and insert the hymn number. With the change of page, your particular song appears. Click the "Listen" button to hear a piano accompaniment. hymnprint.net Music Minister Resource Bear in mind that neither the melody nor the harmony parts will be singled out. Nevertheless, this should be a wonderful aid for your work at home.

 

** Rehearsal Schedule **

Children – Children's Choir will reassemble once again in September after their summer break.

The Spanish Coro will meet this coming Wednesday at 7:30 pm in the music room.

The next Adult rehearsal for the Sunday morning choirs and cantors will be on August 19, Thursday, at 7:30 in the music room.
