Sacrament of Confirmation

The Confirmation Preparation Program at Christ the Redeemer

Sacramental preparation is a two-year process. This is a combination of child enrollment in Religious Education classes for two years and parental participation in sacramental preparation meetings held during the second year.

If you are preparing your child for Confirmation, but he or she has not regularly attended Religious Education, or your child also needs preparation for First Communion, please click here.

Baptized youths entering Grade 7 or higher are eligible to prepare for Confirmation (or Confirmation with First Eucharist). Typically, Year One is enrollment in Grade 7 Religious Education. Parent participation in sacramental preparation starts in Year Two. Confirmation (or Confirmation with First Eucharist) is celebrated in the Fall after Year Two is completed.

In addition to regular Religious Education Fees there is a $50.00 Sacramental Fee and ad $20 Robe Fee payment due during enrollment.

Examples:
Year One: Enrollment in Grade 7.
Year Two: Begin parental sacramental preparation. Celebrate Confirmation (or Confirmation with First Eucharist) in the Fall after Grade 8 is completed.

OR

Year One: Enrollment in a Grade higher than Grade 7 (Grade 8-11)
Year Two: Begin parental sacramental preparation. Celebrate Confirmation (or Confirmation with First Eucharist) in the Fall after this corresponding Grade is completed.

As part of one's preparation for Confirmation, he or she is expected to serve the community by donating time or talent for the betterment of God's creation. A candidate can choose how to spend these hours in service, to be verified by the Director of Religious Education. A sample list of organizations needing volunteers is available here or by clicking the icon at left.
